Resident Rights Statement: Legal Rights

Your resident rights statement should be clear that your organization is recognizing the legal rights of recovery housing residents. There are many different laws that apply to recovery housing and afford residents specific rights.

These laws include:

Federal and State Fair Housing Laws
Landlord Tenant Laws
Laws that protect the privacy and confidentiality of resident information

For the purposes of the resident rights statement, your resident rights statement should contain information on the legal rights that residents have under these laws.
