Recovery housing operators can draft their own statements of resident rights, including specific statements that promote a positive recovery culture that is appropriate for their individual program and environment.

However, a certified recovery house requires specific elements to ensure that the social model of recovery is implemented.

These requirements include:

  1. a grievance process,
  2. right to exercise rights,
  3. right to file grievance,
  4. right to be informed of the rates charged,
  5. right to consult with an independent treatment specialist or legal counsel,
  6. right to receive a receipt for payments made,
  7. right to a full explanation regarding loss of housing privileges and the methods that to reinstate such privileges,
  8. a signature line.
