Recovery housing operators can draft their own statements of resident rights, including specific statements that promote a positive recovery culture that is appropriate for their individual program and environment.
However, a certified recovery house requires specific elements to ensure that the social model of recovery is implemented.
These requirements include:
- a grievance process,
- right to exercise rights,
- right to file grievance,
- right to be informed of the rates charged,
- right to consult with an independent treatment specialist or legal counsel,
- right to receive a receipt for payments made,
- right to a full explanation regarding loss of housing privileges and the methods that to reinstate such privileges,
- a signature line.
