Resident Rights Statement: The Right to File a Grievance

The resident rights statement must include the right to file a grievance in accordance with your recovery home’s policies and procedures.

A critical element of the social model of recovery is allowing residents the ability to participate in the governance of the home. Maintaining an appropriate grievance process is a minimal step to ensure that residents have a critical voice.

Residents must never be prevented from filing a grievance. However, you may be clear that they must use the recovery home’s grievance process or procedure in doing so.
