Recovery housing operators can draft their own statements of resident rights, including specific statements that promote a positive recovery culture appropriate for their individual program and environment.
However, a certified recovery house requires specific elements to ensure that the social model of recovery is implemented.
These requirements include:
- A grievance process
- The right to exercise rights
- The right to file grievance
- The right to be informed of the rates charged
- The right to consult with an independent treatment specialist or legal counsel
- The right to receive a receipt for payments made
- The right to a full explanation regarding loss of housing privileges and the methods to reinstate such privileges
- A signature line
Let’s look at each of these requirements.
