Recovery Support Activities

Recovery housing is not just a house where it does not allow the use of illicit drugs or alcohol, or simply a place where residents live while they are getting clinical treatment or other services at an off-site location.  A quality recovery house offers specific recovery supports based on the Level of Support of the house – a key component is a recovery plan.

Each resident should have a distinct recovery plan that identifies their individual goals and needs. A recovery home also must have a process in place to monitor residents’ progress on their recovery plans and strategies to assist them.

Recovery homes must have defined strategies to help develop residents into recovery leaders so they can support one another in their recovery and have a voice in governing the home.
