Recovery homes must also ensure that residents retain the ability to choose any appropriately credentialed health care or treatment provider.  Consequently, operators may not ask residents to leave housing simply because they cease attending specific treatment services or change their treatment provider of choice.

 

According to the National Alliance of Recovery Residences, allowing residents to maintain this choice is central tenant to the social model of recovery and ethical practices of recovery housing operators.
