Recovery housing is also an environment where residents support one another in their recovery and receive both formal and informal peer support services.
All residents in a recovery home identify as individuals in recovery from a substance use disorder, and they must be engaged in a recovery plan where there are strategies to support each other in their recovery journeys.
Peer support may be more than SUD recovery support. Recovery homes may serve individuals who are in recovery and who also have other common life experiences, such those who have experienced homelessness or who also have mental health challenges.
