Living in a recovery home gives residents an opportunity to live within a community. Not only are they living with others in recovery, but they are living within a larger neighborhood. Reaching out beyond the recovery home to the larger community can help residents feel connected and develop positive, pro-social skills that will continue to help them after they leave recovery housing.
Residents may also learn positive, pro-social skills by participating in activities and hobbies, building friendships that are not only related to recovery. These are all positive ways for people to grow in their recovery and increase their overall well-being.
Let’s look at the steps required to be a good neighbor.
