Creating a Resident Code of Conduct for a Recovery House

It is important that recovery residence operators know and understand the importance of a Code of Conduct policy.

Former recovery house residents often mention the house’s social structure as THE significant reason for their recovery success.  A recovery house’s Code of Conduct is the foundation for this structure and consequently the foundation to a resident’s recovery success.

Objectives

  • Learn how to advance the social model of recovery in your recovery home with an effective house Code of Conduct,

  • Exam language choices and how they can be used to implement the social model of recovery in a house Code of Conduct,

  • How to use NARR Standards to aid in the development of a Code of Conduct, and

  • Learn what to do when a resident does not follow the Code of Conduct.
