Resident Application and Move-In Evaluation: Having a Clear and Measurable Process, Part 4

Resident Application and Move-In Evaluation for Recovery Housing > Resident Application and Move-In Evaluation: Having a Clear and Measurable Process, Part 4

Fourth, your application process can ensure the financial success of your program, by making sure that residents meet any specific requirements for funding sources or are able to meet individual financial obligations prior to moving into the home.

Clarity and transparency in financial dealings with residents is a critical way to ensure that you are operating an ethical recovery housing program. Residents must be clearly informed of any fees that are charged by the recovery residence, as well as any additional charges that may occur. For example, you may charge the resident rent, but then also charge residents for an activity fee, trash collection or other fees.

A recovery house must inform residents of any possible fees – before charges occur – to avoid any misunderstanding.
