Grievance Policy: Violation of the Resident Rights Statement

Creating a Grievance Policy for Recovery Housing > Grievance Policy: Violation of the Resident Rights Statement

A grievance may involve a violation of the Resident Rights Statement.

This is why it is critical that a recovery home organization have a carefully crafted Resident Rights Statement.

Be sure to consider your Resident Rights Statement carefully. What might seem like a minor issue to you, a resident might see as a violation of their rights.

For example, many Resident Rights Statements clearly express that residents have a right to be treated with dignity and respect. But there are often instances where a resident may feel that they were not treated with dignity and respect, while others disagree. While it may seem like a minor issue to staff, the resident may feel that their rights were violated.
