All recovery homes must screen residents for illicit substances prior to move-in.
Once a resident has been accepted into a program, the organization must have a method of ensuring that the resident is not under the influence of alcohol or illicit substances when they move in.
- An organization may choose to accept documentation of a screening performed by a health care or behavioral health services provider or perform a screening itself.
- Residents whose screenings reveal substance use must be referred to a higher level of support prior to entering the program. Once this is complete, they may be retested to move into the recovery home.
