Level III recovery homes must also perform random drug screenings on a regular basis.
Level III homes are considered supervised and offer a higher level of support. Therefore, residents should also be selected to participate in a random screening from time to time that is not based on the suspicion of use. Programs can design an appropriate policy that is suitable for the size and nature of their program. For example, the home may randomly select two days a week to perform screenings and randomly select a particular number of residents to participate in a screen.
Level III homes have wide discretion in establishing random drug screening protocols, but one must be established in order to meet the minimum standards.
