Emergency Preparedness: Storage
Please log in to your account in order to access this material.
Resident items should be stored appropriately.
For example, if residents are storing items in the basement where a furnace or water heater is located, many homes place painters tape or other markers reminding residents not to place items by these appliances to ensure they do not cause a fire. You may also do this in homes with radiators or other such heating elements.
Garages present additional fire safety risks. Flammable liquids, storage of combustibles, gas appliances and electrical tools can lead to fires.
