You can add elements to the resident Code of Conduct that are specifically designed to help prevent emergencies or unsafe situations. Some options include:

Residents agree not to tamper with safety equipment

Residents agree to refrain from using items that are potentially hazardous, such as candles and space heaters

Residents agree to use and store cooking equipment and food appropriately

Residents agree to only smoke in designated outdoor areas and dispose of cigarette trash appropriately

Residents agree to store items appropriately, away from appliances and systems with heating elements, including hot water heaters, furnaces, radiators, coffee pots and toaster ovens
