Emergency Preparedness: Inform Residents

Emergency and Disaster Preparedness for Recovery Housing > Emergency Preparedness: Inform Residents

A disaster preparedness plan only works if everyone knows about it.

Go over policies and procedures about emergency preparedness with residents at move-in.

While it is critical that this preparedness information be introduced at move-in, plan on reminding residents periodically as well, just to make sure they understand and remember.

Post emergency numbers where people can see them easily and not forget them. Most homes post this information on the refrigerator.

Also, place all of your emergency protocols in a binder or on a bulletin board of some kind in the common area of the home.
