Scenario #2 – FOLLOW UP: The focus of the recovery relationship is on the needs of the resident.

Ethical problems could arise if:

1. The friendship was initiated by the RS to meet the RS’s needs and not the resident’s needs,
2. OR the friendship interferes with RS’s ability to provide effective coaching services, or
3. The friendship prevents the development of other sobriety-supportive relationships within the recovery house.
