Scenario #1 – FOLLOW UP: In this situation, the recovery support person should disclose the relationship and request another assignment, if possible.
If the only alternatives are this recovery supporter or no services, then the RS and his supervisor should explore additional options for how they might ensure that these recovery services are provided and still minimize harm to all parties.
The most critical factor here is the need to maximize the safety of the resident receiving services.
