Ethical Boundaries: Introduction

It’s important to have critical conversations with residents at application and move-in. These conversations include reviewing the recovery house’s Code of Conduct, the Resident’s Rights Statement, what’s expected and what’s not allowed. This should also include a conversation on ethical boundaries with the recovery house.
While reviewing the recovery house Code of Conduct and Resident Rights Statement are required for ORH certification, an ethical boundary conversation with residents is not required. However, it is a good idea to let staff and residents know what ethical boundaries are, and what will happen if a boundary has been crossed.
