You can add elements to the resident Code of Conduct that are specifically designed to help prevent emergencies or unsafe situations. Some options include:

  • Residents agree not to tamper with safety equipment

  • Residents agree to refrain from using items that are potentially hazardous, such as candles and space heaters

  • Residents agree to use and store cooking equipment and food appropriately

  • Residents agree to only smoke in designated outdoor areas and dispose of cigarette trash appropriately

  • Residents agree to store items appropriately, away from appliances and systems with heating elements, including hot water heaters, furnaces, radiators, coffee pots and toaster ovens
