Avoid Having a Joint Communicable Disease Policy with Treatment Facilities
In addition to the requirements and best practice recommendations, your communicable disease policy is where you can clearly establish that your recovery house program is separate from any treatment programs that your organization may be associated with.
Having a joint policy may cause confusion, as clinical treatment settings will have very specific health-related requirements that may not be appropriate in a recovery housing setting. A clinical treatment setting will have access to more personal health-related information about an individual and a higher role in disease management than a recovery housing program.
Unconnected and distinct policies can clearly demonstrate that these programs are separate services, while reflecting that both are committed to preventing the spread of illnesses and communicable diseases.
