Privacy Policies: Appropriate Records Storage
Please log in to your account in order to access this material.
Storing records and documents appropriately is important. All paper records must be stored in a locked location. This means a locked filing cabinet or a locked desk drawer. Having a locked office is generally not sufficient, because people may potentially enter the office and see any records that are out in the office. It is important that records be put away at all times when not in use so others do not inadvertently see anything that is private or confidential.
Any electronic records need to be stored on a password-protected computer, and only authorized staff should have access to the password-protected computer.
